Ed Devlin has problems. His parents haven't gotten along since Ed's uncle died. His father drinks too much and his mother has all but given up on her spouse. Sid, Ed's best friend, has no time for him because he's too busy chasing a girl more likely to end up in jail than at graduation. Ed is dejected and lonely and beginning to realize that he has one more issue to deal with--something is wrong with his body.
Ed constantly has to use the bathroom and he can't quench his thirst. He's lost weight and can barely sleep at night. Ed has no clue what's wrong with him and is too concerned with everything else to care. He's exhausted and hoping for his life to change.
It will change, but not in any way he imagines. Ed's life is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better. Just like all the other problems, this one is beyond his control. It will overwhelm him and force him to find a way through. Force him to become someone new.

Having known nothing about this book other than that it was written by someone I know, I decided to pick it up & read it. I enjoyed it very much as Eric has written a story that anyone can relate to. I think a book that can help you visualize what it is trying to convey with its words is a very well-written book, hence why Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games are huge successes. Like those books, this book too captured my imagination. Not only are there scenes in it like the green turtle sandbox that I too had as a kid but even the message from Macbeth was tied in so seamlessly. The book was very enlightening as well because I'm sure many of you have known what it feels like to not fit in. Do give it a read. Highly recommend this book!Product details

I have several family members that have this illness. I'm a retired nurse due to disability and when my husband showed similar symptoms I had my suspicions that were confirmed. I have a nephew who was diagnosed with this illness at age of 13. I'm so very happy that Mr Devine has chosen to write on this subject and how it affects adolescents/juveniles. Because even though the most people believe the illness is the same for both juveniles and adults alike, it isn't the same...
I haven't read this book yet but plan on buying it and reading it along with some of Mr Devine's other books. Will update review after I have read the book. But for now, I will give it 4 stars. Again, will reevaluate my rating after I read book but don't want anyone to not read the book because it had a rating lower than a 4.
Wonderful presentation of real life conflicts encountered by teenagers. Add a chronic disease and life can be very hard.
My son was diagnosed at the age of 14. His father and I were going through a difficult divorce. There were a lot of changes in his life. This story hit home on what he must have been going through.
This book contains a subject that is not normally explored. We've all read the tragic medical accidents or tragic deaths or star crossed lovers. This book breaks away from that norm. It takes the reader inside life of type 1 diabetes. Extremely eye-opening and accurate.
I have three children that are diabetic. Oldest is 20, next one is 17 and youngest is 5. Wish I would of had this book five years ago for my oldest to read. Great story and gives me as a parent a better understanding of how my kids feel and their battle of dealing with everything that goes with this disease. Recommend to all are diabetic to read.
Decent story but could have used better proofing. Errors like missing words are irritating.
